1. Available requests
- Correction: a name, date, profession, quote, explanation, link, or image is inaccurate.
- Appeal: the editorial finding does not fairly reflect qualifying evidence.
- Evidence addition: relevant public material is missing.
- Takedown: publication is unlawful, unsafe, misidentified, disproportionately harmful, or outside scope.
- Privacy request: personal information should be accessed, corrected, restricted, or deleted.
2. Who may request review
Anyone may flag an error. A subject or authorized representative should identify that relationship in the grievance form. We may ask for reasonable verification before disclosing private records or acting on a representative request.
3. What to include
Identify the exact profile or content, explain the requested change, state why the current material is inaccurate or harmful, and provide the strongest available source. Broad demands without identifying the disputed material may take longer to assess.
4. Urgent requests
Use the grievance channel and select “Urgent safety or takedown” where content exposes private contact information, misidentifies a person, depicts a child, contains intimate material, presents a credible safety risk, or is subject to a valid legal order. Urgent labeling does not guarantee removal but prioritizes triage.
5. Review process
- A private reference is issued immediately.
- A reviewer triages the request and preserves the relevant record.
- The underlying source, context, publication scope, and claimed harm are checked.
- An administrator records an outcome: corrected, annotated, finding changed, removed, declined, or more information requested.
- Status can be checked through the website using the private reference.
6. Temporary measures
Content may be temporarily hidden, de-ranked, or marked under review while a serious claim is assessed. This does not prejudge the final outcome.
7. Transparency
Material corrections should be explained publicly where doing so does not create additional harm. Private grievance details, identity verification, and moderator notes are not published.
8. Submit a request
Use the website grievance channel. No public email address is required, and the issued reference is the way to track progress.
